It’s an amazing school, so many things to do. I was very nervous when my child started first year but he settled right in. Very well organised and communication is brilliant between parents and teachers. I’d recommend this secondary school to parents!” - Lorraine Ward (parent)

As principal of Grange Community College, I am delighted to welcome you to our website. Our aim is to give you a sense of Grange Community College as a multi-denominational, inclusive and happy school community of teachers and learners, striving for excellence in all aspects of education and school life.

In Grange Community College we welcome, encourage and value each individual student as a person and provide them with a holistic and quality education that has been designed to meet the needs of every student.

We offer a broad and balanced curriculum that is student centred and cognisant of the 21st century world that our students live in and will graduate into. Our curriculum provision is complimented by extensive co-curricular and extra-curricular programmes that foster the development of lifelong learning and skills for life.

We have a dedicated teaching staff who inspire a love of learning in our students and set high expectations for student engagement and academic excellence. The rapport between students and teachers is excellent with an atmosphere of mutual respect evident in the classroom and across the whole school community. This was commented on by Department of Education Inspectors in November 2018 when they said that “excellent student-teacher relationships were evident” during their inspection.

Student Wellbeing is at the very heart of our ethos with an excellent system of care including a dedicated guidance counsellor, chaplain, home school community liaison co-ordinator, attendance officer, class tutors and year heads. This team ensures that every student in Grange Community College fulfils their potential. We also value a strong partnership with parents, supporting us in providing the very best for every student.

Our approach to behaviour is founded upon the three pillars of Respect, Responsibility and Co-operation. Our interactions with students are framed in a positive way. We do not operate a system of rules, we set expectations for our students. We have found that our students want to live up to the high expectations we set for them.

Our approach to relationships is restorative. In life, disagreements are natural. In Grange Community College, we do not ignore this fact and as such all of our teachers are trained to deal with breakdowns in relationships using restorative practice. Where harm has been done to relationships we seek to reflect on the situation, repair and restore relationships.

There are many student leadership programmes that fosters Student Voice, personal development and leadership. We are cognisant of the fact that our learners in Grange Community College will become the leaders to bring about positive change in our future society.

By visiting our website and social media pages we hope you will be encouraged to visit our school to see what it is that makes Grange Community College the school of choice for so many young boys and girls in Dublin 13.
